| Maintenance Notes |
Deadheading not necessary for continuous bloom on this blue flossflower plant. Plants will "bury their dead" as new flowers quickly cover old flowers, allowing this annual flossflower plant to keep looking fresh without extra work, so no deadheading is necessary. Most other Ageratum will need deadheading.
Unlike most Ageratum the Artist series will bloom through the summer in hot climates, making it a dependable heat tolerant ageratum plant. The Dallas Arboretum has used this blue flossflower plant in very prominent locations with great success. They are good in pots or in the landscape where the colorful ageratum blue flowers create season-long interest. Old flowers should quickly become buried under new flowers so the plant always looks fresh and never look old.
The plants shouldn't need much, if any, maintenance. However, if the plants do become ratty or start to overgrow their location you can trim that back at any time. This annual flossflower plant will flush back into bloom in a week or so.
An application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible performance from this heat tolerant ageratum plant and keep its ageratum blue flowers blooming all season. |
